Summary: Lai and Rumi meet for the first time and fall instantly in love just because I want them too. I was so tempted to make this a higher rating, except for the dedication.
Dedication: for xrumilx of MESPT and his lovely mun, Ruby! 😉
Note: I have a tendency to use Sindarin phrases in everyday life, so I might forget to translate them as I go along. Anything I use will either be an endearment or possibly a curse. Also, this was written during a very boring English class and hasn’t been beta’d… Enjoy!! Oh, and this has nothing to do with their MESPT relationship at all.
Part the First
Laiqalassë was rather upset as he made his way through the forest.
He had gone out into the forest seeking solitude among the trees. All he wanted was to hide from the insanity he called a family, if only for a while.
He paused in his headlong march when he noticed a blonde Elf – a very pretty blonde Elf – sitting beneath a tree.
“Mae govannen melme,” he greeted the Elf.
“Hello.”
“Who are you, and why are you out here by yourself?”
“I am Rumil of Lorien,” the blonde replied, “and I might ask the same of you, vana, why are you alone in the wood?”
“Rumil, I see,” Laiqalassë grinned, “I am Laiqalassë and I am in the wood to avoid my kin.”
Rumil nodded.
“May I sit with you?”
“I suppose,” Rumil sniffed.
Laiqalassë with his knee barely brushing Rumil’s and smiled warmly, “you didn’t say why you are out here.”
“I was bored and depressed, so I came out here to think in silence.” Rumil shrugged, “I’ve spent too much time alone and drunk these past few weeks.”
“Poor thing,” Laiqalassë stroked Rumil’s cheek, “You are far too pretty to just sit and brood.”
“I am pretty, aren’t I?” Rumil preened.
“Aye,” Laiqalassë laughed, “but not very modest.”
“I have never had any need for modesty.”
“Nay, ’tis not Elven nature. I meant it only as jest.”
Rumil looked away from the face of his companion and started plucking grass with his fingers. The he quickly looked up with a smirk, “I know. Tell me, do you flirt with me as a distraction from your problems or have you a genuine interest?”
“Which would you prefer? Both are true.”
Rumil laughed, “Oh really? I shall choose the latter, then.”
Laiqalassë took Rumil’s hand in his own and kissed the slender knuckles. “I will not deny you are very beautiful. I desire to know you in all ways.”
“All ways? Truly?” Rumil snuggled into Laiqalassë so that their hips were touching and his arm was around the red-head’s waist. “I think that can be arranged.”
Laiqalassë purred and nuzzled Rumil’s neck.
Laiqalassë awoke with the warmth of the sun on his face as the light dappled through the leafs overhead. Rumil lay pressed close to his side, head on his shoulder.
He smoothed the blonde hair and sighed. He should not feel so intensely for Rumil. They’d only just met. They had shared their bodies in a mutual need for companionship, no more.
He sighed again and pulled Rumil close, resting his cheek on the blonde’s head.
This was going to need some thought.

Part the Second
Rumil strung a second arrow to his bow as the first hit the target.
This arrow struck within a breath of the first.
/Stupid Laiqalassë/ he thought savagely as three more arrows were violently implanted into the target.
/He must be twice my age yet he acts with the sexual urges of an awakening Elfling./
His next arrow missed the target and he cursed softly.
/You’re losing it Rumil, allowing yourself to be distracted by a pretty face./ He scolded himself. /The only pretty face you’ve ever needed is your own. Although, Lai’ does have a very impressive…/
The twang of his bow as he released the next arrow stilled the uncomfortable thought.
He did not doubt that he lusted after Laiqalassë, but there were other emotions as well. Emotions he wasn’t sure he wanted to have. It was a problem.
He was falling in love with the red-haired Elf.
Rumil put his bow down then walked to the nearby pond to splash some water on his warm skin.
He studied his reflection: pale skin, flushed cheeks, blue-gray eyes, and long, dishevelled, blonde hair.
He touched the surface of the water and his reflection rippled into an unrecognizable mass of colours that reminded him of his inner turmoil.
“Something troubles you, anírapen?”
Rumil turned to face the source of the now-familiar voice.
“Vana, I did not hear you approach,” Rumil met the two-tone gaze of his lover. “Have you been here long?”
“No, not long,” Laiqalassë wrapped his arms around Rumil and whispered into one delicatly pointed ear, “I’ve missed you. I’ve craved your touch, your voice.”
The elder Elf’s breath tickled Rumil’s ear and he gasped in pleasure before answering, “Your lust is sincere, but I think you would abandon me as soon as you find another to your tastes.”
Laiqalassë stepped back and locked eyes with Rumil, “is that truly what you believe, melethron?”
He watched as several emotions quickly flashed through Rumil’s eyes and made sure the depth of his emotion could be seen in his.
“You… you love me!” Rumil brushed a stray strand of hair off Laiqalassë’s face before standing on his toes to kiss the slighlty taller Elf on the nose.
“That I do,” Laiqalassë admitted as he caught Rumil’s mouth in a gentle kiss.
Rumil laughed sweetly as the kiss ended and Laiqalassë placed another sweet kiss on his chin.
“I love you, too.”
